Bengaluru, brace yourself! The city is set to experience heavy rainfall as Cyclone Ditwah weakens into a depression. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'yellow' alert for Karnataka, indicating potential heavy rains. As the storm system moves towards the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast, Bengaluru and its neighboring districts are in for a wet few days.
The IMD predicts a drop in temperature due to falling air pressure, with a maximum temperature of 26°C and a minimum of 18°C. This weather pattern will persist until December 5th, with light to moderate rain expected at isolated places over the coastal and southern interior regions. After that, dry weather is anticipated from December 6th to 8th.
Here's a breakdown of the affected districts: Uttara Kannada, Ballari, Davangere, Shivamogga, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara, Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Hassan. The IMD's 'yellow' alert is a precautionary measure, urging residents to prepare for potential heavy rainfall.
The depression, a remnant of Cyclonic Storm Ditwah, has moved slowly south-southwestwards over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining North Tamil Nadu & Puducherry coasts. With the center of the depression just 25 km away from the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts, the IMD predicts a slow southwestward movement towards the coast, further weakening into a well-marked low-pressure area.
